Saints: 3 Important X-Factors to Beat Eagles

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Third down conversions

This is an area, on both sides of the ball, the Saints have improved upon this season. In 2017, the Saints finished 22nd in the league, converting on just 36.5% of their third downs, according to teamrankings.com. New Orleans now ranks sixth in the league in 2018 with a conversion percentage over 46. The Eagles aren’t too far behind: their offensive conversion percentage of 41.1 is 12th in the NFL this season.

In other words, neither team struggles much when it comes to getting a first down when needed. Last week, Dallas converted eight of its 16 third downs against the Eagles, a mark the Saints would be more than happy with. Meanwhile, Philadelphia concerted just four of their ten attempts. If those numbers stay consistent for the Saints this Sunday, expect a big win. If not, though, it will open the door right up for the Eagles to sneak in an upset.
