Mark Ingram’s Suspension Hurts More Than Expected

The NFL handed down a four-game suspension to running back Mark Ingram prior to the start of the season. He violated the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, which resulted in the ban.

Throughout the first two games, Ingram’s absence has been an obvious pain for the Saints’ offense. Alvin Kamara as the starter has been good, but not dominant like the Saints’ backfield was last season. Ingram coming back will be a huge boost to their offense.

Payton has been unable to find someone to replace Ingram’s role. Mike Gillislee was given an enlarged role in Week 2, but only rushed for 18 yards on eight carries.

New Orleans needs their thunder and lightning backfield back in motion. When Ingram returns, that issue will be fixed quickly.
