Saints: 4 Reasons New Orleans Is Off to a Slow Start in 2018

Secondary Has to Do Better

Finally, the Saints’ defensive secondary has not been living up to the hype that surrounded them. After being one of the top playmaking secondaries in 2017, they have practically been a non-factor thus far in 2018. If the Saints want to make a deep run again this year, the secondary has to do better.

Marcus Lattimore is the biggest name to come to mind. He won the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award last season and the Saints need to see him take his game to the next level. Fellow second-year defensive back Marcus Williams, who is most well-known for allowing the “Minneapolis Miracle,” also needs to step up.

Part of the struggles have been due to the lack of pass rush. That can’t be used an excuse, however.

New Orleans has the talent in their secondary to be a dangerous group. It’s time to stop talking about potential and starting showing the talent on the field come Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.
