At this time last year, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was on the road to recovery from elbow surgery. Now, he is completely healthy and is looking forward to a full offseason.

“It’ll be nice to sort of work on my craft, get a real legit offseason in,” Purdy said, via Kirk Larrabee of 49ers Webzone. “Obviously last year, the season ended, surgery, rehab, trying to get back for the season, so it was just all so fast and going a million miles an hour. So for me to be able to take a step away for a little bit and then I think just work on my mobility, obviously continuing with my arm strength and all that, will be huge for me.”

Purdy injured his elbow in last winter’s NFC Championship Game, which ended in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. This past Sunday, the 49ers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, but on the bright side, Purdy completed a fully healthy campaign.

Now, he will get the chance to work on some things for the entirety of the offseason rather than having to zero in on his recovery from surgery.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a brilliant 2023-24 season, his first one as a full-time starter. In 16 games, he threw for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 69.4 percent of his passes and posting a league-high passer rating of 113.

Most importantly, Purdy led San Francisco to the No. 1 seed in the NFC and guided the team all the way to the Super Bowl, where he went 23-for-38 with 255 yards and a touchdown.

Purdy, who played his collegiate football at Iowa State, was selected by the Niners with the last overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He made nine appearances and five starts during his rookie year, totaling 1,374 yards, 13 touchdowns and four picks.

We’ll see what Brock Purdy and the 49ers do for an encore next season.
