The San Francisco 49ers will take on the Seattle Seahawks in a pivotal Week 14 matchup this weekend, and quarterback Brock Purdy is ready for a tough matchup.

“It’s going to be a dog fight like it always is,” Purdy told reporters on Thursday, via the 49ers’ official YouTube account. “We respect the heck out of Seattle and anytime we play them we know it’s always going to be a dog fight. That’s how we look at it.”

The 49ers hammered the Seahawks by a score of 31-13 in their first meeting back on Nov. 23. That game was in Seattle, so this time around, Purdy and Co. will be hosting their NFC West division rivals.

Purdy was also questioned about the backward baseball cap he has been wearing lately, and he completely owned his new style.

“Man, I guess that’s who I am and I think so,” Purdy said when asked if his fashion choice was representing the Niners well. “Some guys have told me in the locker room and stuff, but I don’t buy into all that kind of stuff. I’m just trying to play quarterback and win games.”

Purdy went 21-for-30 with 209 yards, a touchdown and an interception in San Francisco’s first meeting with the Seahawks a couple of weeks ago.

On the season overall, the 23-year-old has thrown for 3,185 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing a league-high 70.2 percent of his passes and posting an NFL-best passer rating of 116.1.

Purdy is one of the leading candidates for the MVP award, which is quite the feat given that he was taken by the 49ers with the last pick of the draft last year.

The Iowa State product entered his rookie campaign as the club’s third-string quarterback but was pressed into starting duty after season-ending injuries to both Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance. Purdy was so impressive that he ended up winning San Francisco’s starting quarterback job permanently.

The Niners are 9-3 entering their Sunday clash with the Seahawks. Meanwhile, Seattle is 6-6.
