The San Francisco 49ers are off to a terrific start this season, winning their first two games and scoring 30 points in each of those contests.
Still, even with their strong offensive start, it would not hurt for the 49ers to add another wide receiver.
The Las Vegas Raiders could be a great place to look.
Raiders wide out Hunter Renfrow could be on the move between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, and San Francisco seems like a natural fit.
The Niners could send a pair of 2024 draft picks—a fourth rounder and a seventh—to Las Vegas in exchange for Renfrow’s services.
Renfrow has been a forgotten man in the Raiders’ offense in 2023, logging just one catch for 23 yards. It marks the second straight year that Renfrow’s role within Las Vegas’ aerial attack has been rather limited, as he caught just 36 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns in a 2022 campaign that was marred by injuries.
But we do know that Renfrow has the capability to fill a large role.
The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Renfrow made a solid impact right off the bat, posting 49 catches for 605 yards and four scores during his rookie campaign. He followed that up with a very similar season in 2020, tallying 56 grabs for 656 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
Then, Renfrow broke out in 2021, hauling in 103 receptions for 1,038 yards while reaching the end zone nine times en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
While Hunter Renfrow probably wouldn’t be getting those types of touches in a 49ers receiving corps that includes Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and tight end George Kittle, he could still provide a rather healthy boost for the offense and present young quarterback Brock Purdy with a sure-handed target.
