8+ sacks
Once again, Adams has already shown that he can be useful when it comes to rushing the passer. In each of his first three seasons, the LSU product has gradually improved in the sack department. The versatile safety has managed to notch a total of 12 sacks since being taken by the Jets in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Unless the Seahawks can convince Jadeveon Clowney to return, the team could be in for another season that involves their defense struggling to create pressure. At the least, Adams can help make up for part of the void left by Clowney, proving his prowess as a pass rusher at the safety position.
Near the end of the 2019 season, Adams confidently exclaimed that he was going to break the all-time sack record for defensive backs. The record has been held by Adrian Wilson since 2005, who recorded eight sacks with the Arizona Cardinals. Given Seattle’s lack of firepower off of the edge, Adams could easily be one of the sack leaders on the team. And he could position himself to break Wilson’s sack record in his debut season with the Seahawks.
