Wilson Will Earn First MVP Award
Okay but seriously though, how has Russell Wilson NEVER won an NFL MVP award? Eight years in the league, and he’s been one of the game’s best quarterbacks from the moment he first set foot on the field. With year after year of high-efficiency, low turnover passing under his belt.
Whatever the reason may be, that changes in 2020. In fact, if not for the aforementioned “ludicrously efficient” season from Lamar Jackson, Wilson most likely would have ran away with the award. And he has the numbers to prove it.
Bare with me as I lull everyone to sleep with some stats, but they’re all worth noting. Top Ten in the NFL in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completion percentage, yards per attempt, and passer rating. All while throwing just five interceptions, the second-fewest of any quarterback with over 500 passing attempts.
But what’s crazier than all of that is that those stats are just an average day at the office for Wilson. Forget 2019, Russell Wilson has been playing at that level for his entire career.
The MVP Award is just as much a narrative award as it is a skill-based award, and with eight years of consistent greatness, Wilson has both a good story and elite level play on his side. If he really does progress in 2020 with some new weapons, he could have the MVP locked up.
