2. Russell Wilson Wins the 2020 NFL MVP
Outside of Drew Brees, Wilson is the best quarterback never to have won the regular season MVP. Somehow, he’s never received an official MVP vote, but Seattle’s quarterback is always in the conversation. He’s the reason the Seahawks are a perennial playoff contender.
This past year and 2017 were high-water marks for Wilson. After analysts speculated that he was a product of Seattle’s defense in the early 2010s, Wilson emerged as a true superstar. Over the past three seasons, he’s thrown 100 touchdowns and only 23 interceptions.
Arguably, no player means more to his team than Wilson. The 31-year-old’s mobility lets him thrive behind a poor offensive line. The 2020 season will be no exception to what has become a habit for many years.
While Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson might post flashier numbers in 2020, Wilson accomplishes more with less than either of the former MVPs.
