Seahawks: Why Josh Gordon is worth the risk for Seattle if cleared

The Seattle Seahawks came up short in the NFL Divisional Round during their 28-23 loss to the Green Bay Packers. A 21-3 deficit at halftime proved to be too much to overcome. As a result, the Seahawks have been open to bringing in Antonio Brown or Josh Gordon if cleared by the NFL.

It has been a struggle for Gordon to stay out of trouble. He was suspended indefinitely in mid-December for violating the NFL policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse, marking the fifth suspension of his career.

Despite that fact, the Seahawks will try to re-sign Gordon when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell makes a decision regarding his request for reinstatement, per John Clayton of ESPN 710. It was also mentioned that it could happen ‘in the next week or two.’

During the five games Gordon appeared in with the Seahawks in 2019, he was targeted 11 times resulting in seven catches and 139 receiving yards. He participated in six games with the New England Patriots until he was released on injured reserve, prior to signing with the Seahawks mid-season.

With that being said, let’s take a look at three reasons why the Seahawks should pursue a Josh Gordon signing if he gets cleared.
