Rashaad Penny, Running Back

Giants running back Rashaad Penny had the best game of his rookie season on Sunday, finishing with 12 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown. His TD came on an 18-yard run in the first quarter and he also had a 38-yard scamper while averaging an eye-popping nine yards per carry.

Here’s what Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said of Penny’s performance on Monday, via the Seattle Times:

“He was explosive, read the line of scrimmage really well on four or five different runs, saw things really clearly, showed good speed on the edge (and) a good burst, scored easily and we haven’t seen many of those. That was really nice. It was just great to see him play football and contribute.”

Seattle has other talented running backs as well. However, if Sunday’s game was any indication, Penny should see an increased workload moving forward. He seemed tentative over his first eight games, but ran with great purpose against the Rams.
