The Seattle Seahawks find themselves among the select few NFL teams still in search of a head coach.
Among the candidates catching Seattle’s eye is Mike Macdonald, the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. With Baltimore’s season now concluded, the Seahawks have the opportunity to delve deeper into Macdonald’s potential as their head coach.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Seattle is set to conduct a second interview with Macdonald on Wednesday, just one day after their initial meeting with him in Baltimore.
At just 36 years old, Macdonald has been on the radar of the Washington Commanders, the sole remaining team in need of a head coach, as well. His last two seasons were spent as the defensive coordinator for the Ravens, contributing to their impressive achievement of securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed in 2023.
Macdonald’s journey within the Ravens organization began in 2014 when he started as a coaching intern. Over the years, he progressively climbed the ranks, serving as the defensive backs coach before ultimately taking on the role of linebackers coach.
During the 2021 season, this native of Boston joined Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff at the University of Michigan as the defensive coordinator.
In addition to Macdonald, there have been reports of other potential candidates for the Seattle Seahawks’ head coaching position, including Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, and Mike Kafka, who currently serves as the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
