Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have been locked into drama all offseason long with reports and rumors coming out that the reigning NFL MVP doesn’t want to take another snap for his current franchise. Just ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, it was reported that the Denver Broncos were close to acquiring Rodgers. That did not end up happening, but the rumors have not stopped swirling that Rodgers will not play for the Packers in 2021.
Coinciding with the rumors, new shocking betting odds have suggested that Rodgers will not play for the Packers this season. That may not end up being the case, but things are trending in a negative direction for Green Bay fans.
Sports Betting AG has placed the odds at 60 percent that Rodgers will not take the first snap for the Packers in 2021.
Granted, that doesn’t mean that the Packers will trade Aaron Rodgers. It could simply mean that Rodgers will sit out the season like it has been reported he is willing to do. Either way, this is a very dangerous situation for Green Bay.
Over the last two years, the Packers have been to the NFC Championship Game and lost in both of those appearances. They are just one step away from the Super Bowl. Having to blow things up now would be a massive blow for the franchise.
Last season, Rodgers put together one of the best seasons he has ever had. In fact, it could be argued that it was his best season so far in his career.
Rodgers completed 70.7 percent of his pass attempts for 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also racked up 149 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Those numbers were impressive, to say the least, and it is very clear that the superstar quarterback still has quite a bit of elite football left in him.
It will be interesting to see how this situation continues to unfold. The Packers are doing everything in their power to fix the relationship, but it might be too little too late. Aaron Rodgers is ticked off and repairing things may not be possible.
Expect to continue hearing a ton of rumors and reports coming out of Green Bay in the coming weeks. Rodgers may end up playing for the Packers in 2021, but right now things are not trending in that direction.
