Why The Packers Should Take A Chance On Dez Bryant
Quite simply, the Packers are desperate for talent at the wide receiver position. At this point in time, the only consistent weapon they have at the position is Davante Adams. Behind him, there are a ton of question marks.
Can Allen Lazard step up and play a bigger role than he did in 2019? Will Marquez Valdes-Scantling finally reach his potential? Is Equanimeous St. Brown ready for a bigger role after losing the entire 2019 season due to injury?
Funchess was expected to come in and play an immediate role. Bryant is a very similar type of wide receiver.
Standing in at 6-foot-2 and nearly 220 pounds, Bryant is a big body who can make big plays down the field and be a possession receiver. Having him as a No. 2 or No. 3 wide receiver makes perfect sense for the Packers.
Bryant has been all over social media sharing workout videos. In those videos, he has looked quick and ready to play. He simply needs a team like the Packers to take a chance on him and give him a one-year deal.
If the Packers truly want to make a full push at a Super Bowl, bringing in Bryant would be a worthy gamble. Bryant may not end up being a difference maker, but there is a strong chance that he might be able to.
Brian Gutekunst has made some very solid moves in his time as the Packers’ GM. Why not take a gamble on a former superstar with an intense hunger to get back into the game? Nothing could be impacted negatively by the move, as the Packers could simply release Bryant if needed.
Green Bay may not end up making another move at wide receiver. However, Aaron Rodgers needs more help and Dez Bryant should be a consideration.
