Why Dante Fowler Jr. Would Be A Perfect Target For The Steelers
Quite simply, Dante Fowler Jr. would be a game-changer for the Steelers. He has become one of the most coveted free agents on the market and will have quite a few offers to choose from. Pittsburgh, however, would have to be an intriguing landing spot for him.
At this point in time, it is unclear exactly what kind of contract Fowler will be looking for. He made $12 million with the Rams this season and will want a pay raise. In order to get him, the Steelers may have to give him a deal worth around $14-16 million annually.
During the 2019 season with the Rams in 16 games, Fowler ended up recording 58 total tackles to go along with 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and six defended passes. Those numbers show how productive Fowler is capable of being for whoever decides to spend the big bucks to get him.
Mike Tomlin and company are all about hard work and hard-nosed football. Fowler fits that bill. He has improved each season he has been in the league and has not problems getting down and dirty to do whatever it takes to win.
Spending the money would be worth it to get their defense back on track. Fowler may not end up with Pittsburgh, but he should absolutely be a target when free agency opens.
