Steelers: 3 burning questions following the 2020 NFL Draft

Who will be WR3 whenever the 2020 season begins?

With the selection of Claypool in the second round, the Steelers understand they needed to upgrade at the wide receiver position. At the same time, Claypool’s arrival suddenly leaves an interesting question: Who is going to be WR3 whenever the 2020 season gets underway?

Last season, the Steelers began life after Antonio Brown, deploying a receiving corps that featured JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, and James Washington. However, with Claypool and Smith-Schuster likely slotting in the top-two receiver spots, Washington and Johnson may have to compete for the third spot on the depth chart.

Despite being a rookie third-round pick in 2019, Johnson performed a bit better than Washington, possibly giving him an edge heading into the training camp. Nevertheless, the Steelers need to decide early on in the season who is going to be their third wide receiver in the team’s passing attack.
