Steelers: 3 players to watch closely during training camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the other 31 teams in the NFL, have gotten their training camp festivities underway. With there being no preseason in 2020 due to COVID-19, teams will have to use training camp to make roster decisions before the regular season arrives.

Even with the circumstances of the unusual offseason, all 32 teams will have until September 5th to trim their rosters down to 53 players. However, with the coronavirus causing concern during the season, the NFL is allowing teams to hold 16 players on their practice squad. That means the next few weeks are going to be vital for guys who are on the verge of being released.

Of course, when it comes to the Steelers, the one player everyone is going to keep tabs on during training camp is Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger is coming off of a season-ending elbow injury in 2019 and is expected to be fully prepared to start in Week 1 of the upcoming season. Pittsburgh’s 2020 campaign is reliant upon the veteran signal-caller remaining healthy.

Given that Roethlisberger is an obvious choice, we’ll be taking a look at a few other players that are worth keeping an eye on in training camp for Pittsburgh.
