2. Defense reaches 60 sacks
The Steelers have led the NFL in sacks in each of the last three seasons. They finished with 54 in 2019 to bring their total to 162 during that span. In 2020, they could take the next step and get to 60 sacks.
Since the turn of the century, there have been four teams other than the Steelers to log 60 sacks in a season. It was the New Orleans Saints in 2000, San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens in 2006, and Carolina Panthers in 2013.
T.J. Watt led the team with 14.5 sacks followed by Bud Dupree with 11.5. Cameron Hayward was near the double-digit mark with nine. The Steelers had 13 players record at least half a sack in 2019.
The Steelers will return most of their key players on the defensive side of the ball including Watt, who is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. If the Steelers can get more production from players like Stephon Tuitt and Devin Bush, they will reach 60 sacks for sure.
