Impact of New Offensive Additions
There was a clear need to add more receiving threats on offense for the Pittsburgh Steelers. To kick things off, they signed Eric Ebron in free agency to bolster the tight end position. They followed that up by drafting Chase Claypool in the second-round.
The intrigue surrounding Ebron comes with his ability to make athletic plays for a tight end, especially after the catch. He recorded 750 yards and 13 touchdowns catching passes from Andrew Luck in 2018. Can he get closer to those figures with Ben Roethlisberger?
It certainly wouldn’t hurt if Chase Claypool could earn a legitimate role right away and contribute consistently. He has potential to bring additional dimensions to the Steelers’ offense standing at 6’4″ with a great catch radius.
There are already some impactful talents like James Washington, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Diontae Johnson but none emerged as a high-level threat. They need higher-level impact from other spots and Ebron and Claypool will need to provide a boost.
