James Conner Enters a Contract Year
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a variety of key players entering the final year of contracts. Perhaps the most intriguing situation of all will be James Conner considering he will look to have a bounce-back season in 2020.
Durability was an issue for Conner last season. He ended up appearing in just 10 of the Steelers’ regular season outings and experienced noticeable significant declines in productivity. This sets up a pivotal contract-year to pinpoint his value.
In ESPN’s league-wide projections for every offensive player of the season for the 2020 season, the expectations are not great for Conner. He’s slotted as being the 21st most productive running back with 1,006 total yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns.
If Conner can stay healthy and achieve the results ESPN projects him to accomplish next season, there’s plenty of reason to keep him long-term. It will come down to a matter of the price required to do so.
