Pursuit of a Playoff Spot

Most of the attention that is placed on the AFC North ahead of the 2020 season has been on the Baltimore Ravens and not the Pittsburgh Steelers. That’s certainly logical and expected but it’s important to not forget about the Steelers.

Looking beyond the Ravens in the AFC North, the Steelers appear best positioned to earn a possible Wild Card spot in the playoffs. That’s certainly far from a guarantee considering even the Cincinnati Bengals have reason for optimism with Joe Burrow.

The best equipped challenger from the AFC North to the Steelers’ chances of a Wild Card spot is the Cleveland Browns. They made many key changes in the offseason and could be primed for a major turnaround themselves.

It would be a very difficult reality to accept from the Steelers’ perspective if they kept much of its defense intact and have Ben Roethlisberger healthy but fail to make noise in the playoffs. Simply put, Pittsburgh has what they need to thrive next season.
