Taking a look at Khalil Mack’s 2019 season for the Bears

Just How Good Was Khalil Mack In 2019?

Let’s start this by taking a look at the numbers Mack was able to accumulate for Chicago this season.

In the 16 games Mack played this season with the Bears, he ended up recording 47 total tackles to go along with 8.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and four defended passes. Those numbers weren’t what fans were expecting. Chicago needs a better version of Mack in 2020.

Granted, the numbers weren’t as big as many were expecting. However, Mack was still a major impact player and was the leader of the Bears’ defense.

Mack wasn’t the only player that came up short of expectations on the Bears’ defense. In fact, the entire defense came up short. Chuck Pagano’s defense was nothing close to what Vic Fangio was able to put on the field in Chicago.

Putting a grade on any player’s season is never an easy task, especially for a player as good as Mack. Yes, he had a down season, but it was still a good all-around year. Chicago can’t be too upset with Mack not reaching double-digit sack totals, but they also can’t be too happy that he had a down season.

All of that being said, let’s go ahead and figure out a grade for Mack. Due to the fact that he is a superstar and has proven himself to be able to put up much bigger numbers, his grade cannot be an A or above. He did have solid numbers though, so there is only one grade that we can give him.
