Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 3 Reasons Why Ryan Fitzpatrick Should Remain the Starter

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been one of the best stories in the NFL throughout the first two weeks of the 2018 season. Obviously, rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes may be the best story in the league, but outside of him, there don’t appear to be any other players that deserve more praise and recognition than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback.

After being forced into the starting lineup following the three-game suspension being handed down to Jameis Winston, the veteran quarterback genius has been outstanding. He has led the Buccaneers to two straight wins that many didn’t give them a chance to pull off. Beating the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles has given the Buccaneers confidence that they might be able to compete this year.

Throughout the first two games of the season, Fitzpatrick has completed a sizzling 78.7 percent of his pass attempts for 819 yards, eight touchdowns, and just one interception. Those numbers show just how dominant Fitzpatrick has been in just two games thus far.

Tampa Bay head coach Dirk Koetter has a big decision to make after next week’s matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Fitzpatrick continues his hot play, does he stick with the veteran or bench him for Winston?

All of that being said, what three reasons can be given to support the statement that Ryan Fitzpatrick should stay as the starter in Tampa Bay even when Winston is eligible to return to the field?
