Can Fitzpatrick Hold Down The Fort For 4 Games?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to place their season in the hands of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Although it’s only four games, those four could be the difference between playoffs and top 10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. With Jameis Winston out, the Bucs are wondering which Fitzpatrick they will get?
The Bucs will face the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Chicago Bears in the first four weeks. Not an easy task even with Winston under center. But to ask Fitzpatrick to beat three 2017 playoff teams and the Bears who are expected to contend is one tall order.
For his career, Fitzpatrick is the poster boy for NFL journeyman. In 13 seasons, he has played for seven teams, passed for 26,991 yards, thrown 173 touchdowns and 136 interceptions. All the while, he’s completed 59.7 percent of his passes. Fitzpatrick is good for a few wins here and there but as a full-time starter, he’s only had two non-losing seasons.
The Bucs are hoping he can at least get two wins of the four, but if he fails to get any, the Bucs’ season will be over by the time they come off their bye week and Winston is ready to play.
