On Wednesday, the wife of Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin took to Instagram to express her displeasure with her husband’s role in the team’s Week 13 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Godwin didn’t register a single catch and was targeted just three times. Head coach Todd Bowles said that the reason Godwin didn’t see much action is because he was being subbed in and out, but Mariah Godwin pointed out that Chris actually played in 52 offensive snaps.

As a result, the star wide out had to do some damage control on Thursday, assuring everyone that there is no issue between him and anyone on the Buccaneers.

“I’ve never had any malice or like ill will to Dave or Coach Bowles or anybody,” Godwin said, via Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times. “I think I have a really good relationship with them. They’re all part of the team and I consider them to be like cool people to me. So now it’s how to move forward and make this the best that we can make it because we want to win, we want to go to the playoffs. … Nobody is beefing. We’re all great right now.”

Godwin added that he met with Bowles and offensive coordinator Dave Canales this week and that he did not feel “disrespected” by anything Bowles said.

On the season overall, Godwin has logged 53 catches for 606 yards and a touchdown.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Penn State, was selected by Tampa Bay in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He has logged three 1,000-yard campaigns throughout his career, with his best season coming in 2019 when he hauled in 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. Godwin caught 104 passes for 1,023 yards and three scores last year.

The Bucs are 5-7 and have a pivotal NFC South divisional matchup with the Atlanta Falcons on tap this Sunday, so now is certainly not the time for drama between Godwin and the coaching staff.
