Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is getting set to hit free agency this offseason, but he doesn’t seem to want to explore the market too much.

Both quarterback Joe Burrow and fellow wide out Ja’Marr Chase have said they want the Bengals to bring Higgins back this spring, and Higgins is grateful for his teammates’ support.

“It means a lot,” Higgins said, via Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report. “Them telling me that they want me to come back, man, it’s family. We’ve been playing together for three or four years now, and I personally would love to be back playing with those guys. It’s not in my hands now, but when the time comes and Cincinnati is there, that’s the number one option right now.”

Higgins will be one of the top receivers available this offseason, so if Cincinnati does want him to return to the fold, it will certainly have to open its checkbook.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a terrific rookie campaign, playing in every game and catching 67 passes for 908 yards and six touchdowns. The following year, Higgins was even better, hauling in 74 receptions for 1,091 yards and six scores. He then posted nearly identical numbers in 2022, snaring 74 balls for 1,029 yards while reaching the end zone seven times.

Higgins took a bit of a step back this season largely due to injuries and the fact that Burrow missed about half the season. In 12 contests in 2023, Higgins registered 42 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns.

In spite of his lackluster campaign this year, Cincinnati absolutely knows what Higgins is capable of, and with plenty of cap room at the club’s disposal, it would strongly behoove the Bengals to re-sign him.

We’ll see what becomes of Tee Higgins in a couple of months.
