Tee Higgins Suggested As Trade Target For New York Giants

The New York Giants shocked everyone with their performance during the 2022 season. The first season under the new regime of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll blew everyone away.

Projected by most people to win four or five games, the Giants went 9-7-1 during the regular season, earning a Wild Card berth. Their magical season continued Super Wild Card Weekend when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-24. Their run was ended in the Divisional Round by the Philadelphia Eagles, where it was apparent just how much more work New York has to do.

They are on the right track and a plan has been put in place, which is all most people could ask for after how disastrous things were the last decade for Big Blue. This offseason will be an important one for Schoen as he will finally have some spending power.

The No. 1 goal after working out deals to retain Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley is to upgrade the weapons around Jones offensively. He had a great first season under Daboll’s tutelage despite an underwhelming group of pass-catchers.

The Giants could look to the trade market to upgrade at wide receiver. One player that could come available this offseason is Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals. Marcus Mosher of PFF believes he would be a great target for the team.

“If Higgins was on the market, expect there to be a ton of suitors. Nonetheless, the team that is the most desperate to find WR help has to be the Giants. Their leading receiver in 2022 was Darius Slayton, who was nearly cut before the year began. Adding Higgins would make their offense much more dynamic and finally give Daniel Jones a weapon he can trust”

Higgins had another big year in 2022 as the No. 2 receiver in Cincinnati behind Ja’Marr Chase. He caught 74 passes for 1,29 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games. That kind of production lapped the field compared to what Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James Jr. did as the team’s leading pass catchers this season.

If Higgins is in search of a No. 1 role once his contract expires, the Giants could provide him with that. He would be the unquestioned go-to receiver in this offense, giving Jones that much-needed upgrade that other young quarterbacks have benefitted from adding in recent seasons.
