Texans: 4 Reasons Houston Has Underachieved Early in 2018

So what exactly is holding the Texans back from struggling early this season? Why is a team with this much talent underachieving thus far in 2018?

The Houston Texans haven’t exactly gotten off to a strong start in 2018, going 0-3 before picking up their first win of the year by squeaking past the Indianapolis Colts in overtime in Week 4. Entering the season, Houston had high expectations. With the return of quarterback Deshaun Watson, along with defensive stars finally all healthy at once, Houston was supposed to be contenders for the Super Bowl.

Before their Week 3 game against the New York Giants, Watson and the team had message to Texans fans to not panic.

“If you’re one of those people, one of those fans hitting the panic button then that’s on y’all.” said Watson, via Texans Wire.

However, after the loss to the Giants, Watson and his teammates message was a little different.

When asked post game did he have the same confidence he did after the loss, Watson said, “Another opportunity next week to try to get one win.”

Starting safety Tyrann Mathieu said in his postgame interview, “This week we have to have a sense of urgency, and we must win this game.”

Due to a manageable schedule, the first four games all finished within one score. So what exactly is holding the Texans back from finally winning games this season? Why is a team with this much talent underachieving thus far in 2018?
