One of the positions that look to be very deep in the 2022 NFL Draft is wide receiver. There are anywhere from five-seven players at the position that could be selected in the first round of the draft as teams are on the lookout for pass catchers that can make their offense more dynamic. One of the players who are hoping to have their name called in the first round is Arkansas wide receiver, Treylon Burks, who is receiving interest from teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and Houston Texans.
Burks had a great 2021 with the Razorbacks, catching 66 passes for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Standing 6’3” and weighing 225 pounds, there isn’t a receiver in this draft class that can match his blend of size and athleticism. Right out the gate, Burks will be able to provide an offense with a vertical threat that can win downfield.
While his testing at the NFL Combine left a little something to be desired, his game tape speaks for itself. No matter where he is lined up, he can get the job done. While some expectations are being tempered following his testing, he can still provide a team with a difference-making deep threat.
Which team could Burks end up helping? According to Doug Kyed of PFF, the Lions, Texans, and Cowboys all used Top 30 visits on Burks.
Every team gets allotted 30 visits to use on NFL Draft prospects to come to the facility. Top 30 is the designation those players receive, as it usually means a team is interested enough to draft a certain player that they want to get to know more about them.
The Cowboys have the No. 24 overall selection, so Burks could very well be in play when they come on the clock. After trading Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns and losing Cedrick Wilson to the Miami Dolphins in free agency, the Cowboys could look to bolster the position group behind CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
The Lions and Texans each have two first-round picks, and their second ones are when Burks could come into play. Houston selects at No. 3 and 13, while Detroit selects No. 2 and 32. Both teams could use some weapons at wide receiver and Treylon Burks will squarely be in the mix as a potential second-round pick as well.
