Texans: What to expect from RB David Johnson in 2020

David Johnson was one of the most talked about players of the NFL offseason, but it wasn’t necessarily just due to his talent. The Houston Texans made a blockbuster trade to acquire Johnson from the Arizona Cardinals and sent superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins out of town for him.

While he is a piece of the biggest trade that was made this offseason, he should not be forgotten. Just a few years back, Johnson was viewed as one of the top running backs in the league. Houston needed help at running back and Johnson is hoping to fill that void.

This offseason, the Texans and Carlos Hyde decided to part ways. That leaves Johnson as the clear-cut workhorse running back in Houston. Duke Johnson will take some touches, but David Johnson is without question going to be unleashed in Bill O’Brien’s offense.

Last season with the Cardinals, Johnson saw his starting role taken by Kenyan Drake. He ended up playing in 13 games and carried the football just 94 times for 345 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson also caught 36 passes for 370 yards and four touchdowns.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at what the Texans should be expecting from David Johnson in 2020.
