The Broncos should look to sign Colin Kaepernick following Drew Lock injury

Why The Broncos Should Sign Colin Kaepernick

Quite simply, the Broncos need to look to make something happen. Without Lock on the field and with the knee injury suffered by star wide receiver Courtland Sutton that is considered to be “significant,” Denver needs help.

Will Kaepernick come in and be a superstar? Probably not, but he can make plays with his arm and with his legs. Extra motivation and a chip on his shoulder could give Kaepernick an edge to be a solid addition.

Here are three reasons the Broncos should go for it with the signing Kaepernick.

3. There’s Absolutely Nothing To Lose

Rumblings have stated that teams have shied away from signing Kaepernick because they didn’t want to bring in the media storm that would come from the move. However, the Broncos have nothing to lose. Without Lock and Sutton, their season could crumble, so why not bring Kaepernick in to see what he has left?

2. Kaepernick Is Without Question Better Than Jeff Driskel

Following the shoulder injury suffered by Lock, Driskel came in and completed 18 of his 34 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns, and an interceptions. His production was solid, but it won’t stay consistent. Kaepernick is still a better option for the Broncos to pick up some wins in the absence of Lock.

1. A Dual-Threat QB May Be Needed

We can talk about the passing game all we want, but Colin Kaepernick was a lethal runner as well. With Sutton possibly out long-term, the Broncos might need a quarterback who can make plays. Kaepernick has always been able to make plays and it’s more than worth a shot for Denver to bring him in.
