Cons
With just about $23 million in cap space to work with heading into this offseason, Green Bay will need to be smart with how they divvy up the money. Pro Football Focus projects that Hooper will sign a four-year deal with an annual salary of $10.13 million and $21 million guaranteed.
That kind of contract could really strap the Packers with what they can do this offseason. They aren’t usually a team that goes out and signs a bunch of big time players in free agency, but it still wouldn’t be ideal losing about half of your cap space with one signing.
Signing Hooper is still certainly a possibility regardless of the cap situation, especially if the team frees up some cap space by cutting Graham. Just don’t expect any other big acquisitions if Hooper is brought in.
