The pros and cons of the Panthers sticking with Cam Newton

Cons

On the other end of the spectrum, there are definitely risks involved with Newton coming back in 2020. Of course, the elephant in the room is the recent injury history that Newton has.

Just in the last two seasons, Newton has undergone two surgeries for concerning injuries. Along with that, he’s missed 16 games over the past two seasons due to injuries.

Considering his current ailment is described as a Lisfranc injury, there is unmistakenly a chance for reinjury. Another injury for the former NFL MVP would all but guarantee his exit from Carolina.

In the event that Newton falters next season, it would essentially be a wasted year in Rhule’s tenure. Some would argue that the Panthers should move on from Newton so Rhule can select his own hand-picked quarterback.

Without a doubt, there are people that stand on both sides of the argument. For the time being, the Panthers are of the belief that there are more pros than cons to keeping Newton for next season.
