Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are headed into a huge Wild Card matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend. Both teams have put together a great season and should put on a show to begin the playoffs. What has been even more impressive has been the play of Burrow in his second year with the Bengals.
In his second NFL season, Burrow showed that he is one of the league’s rising superstars. Many believe he could end up being the best quarterback in the league before too long.
Pro Football Focus shared an intriguing grade on one specific area of Burrow’s game from the 2021 season. It is extremely intriguing, to say the least. His development has been amazing and this is a feat that many second-year quarterbacks would have no chance of achieving.
Throughout the course of the 2021 NFL season for the Bengals, Burrow ended up completing 70.4 percent of his pass attempts for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He also picked up 118 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Those numbers show just how dominant Burrow was this season.
At 25 years of age, Burrow still has plenty of room to grow as well. It’s hard to believe that he just completed his second NFL season. With so much room to grow, the sky is the limit for him with the Bengals.
One of the biggest issues for young quarterbacks is playing well under pressure. Many young players fold and end up becoming turnover prone. That has not been the case for Burrow.
While this may not be an end all statistic, it shows amazing poise from Joe Burrow. The Bengals have to be excited about their future and present. Make sure to tune in this weekend as Burrow plays his first career playoff games and tries to lead Cincinnati on a playoff run.
