New Indianapolis Colts star pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue has become well-traveled in recent seasons. The EDGE defender began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing the first four seasons of his career there. Looking to cash in on a lucrative contract, the Jaguars were unwilling to pay it, so they traded him to the Minnesota Vikings.

He lasted only six games with the Vikings before he was traded again, this time to the Baltimore Ravens. Ngakoue hit free agency in 2021 and was on the move again, signing a two-year deal to provide a much-needed pass rush boost to the Las Vegas Raiders.

The former Terrapin did exactly what he was supposed to do. Playing opposite Maxx Crosby, Ngakoue had a great season with the Raiders. He played in all 17 games, racking up 10 sacks to go along with eight tackles for loss.

Ngakoue was constantly in the opponent’s backfield causing havoc. According to PFF, he was one of only 10 players in the NFL to record 10+ sacks/quarterback hits and 40+ hurries during the 2021 season.

After working out a big contract for Chandler Jones in free agency, the Raiders traded Yannick Ngakoue to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for cornerback Rock Ya-Sin. The Colts are now his fourth team in three seasons but they are certainly glad to have him in the fold.

Last season, the Colts managed only 33 sacks. DeForest Buckner led the team with seven sacks, while Al-Quadin Muhammad finished second with six but is no longer with the team as he signed with the Chicago Bears in free agency.

There were only five teams in the league to register fewer sacks last season. Ngakoue will immediately help their pass rush as he has picked up at least eight sacks in all six seasons of his NFL career.

Still only 27-years old, Ngakoue has plenty of gas left in the tank to continue being a top-of-the-line pass rusher.
