This Broncos-Brown trade sends Von Miller to Cleveland

The Broncos have a Von Miller problem and the Cleveland Browns just may have the cure. After missing all of the 2020 NFL season, Von Miller is owed 22 million dollars by the Denver Broncos.

Denver is in the midst of a youth movement and might be willing to move the franchise legend for the right price. Cleveland has ample cap space and needs to be looking for a complement to Myles Garrett.

Proposed Trade

Cleveland sends a 2021 third round pick Denver for Miller.

Does This Trade Work for the Denver Broncos?

Denver is in a bit of a precarious situation as they don’t currently have the quarterback of the future on their roster and have an aging defense.

Von Miller will one day be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Denver Bronco but after a slow 2019 season and missing all of the 2020 season it would reason that he may have lost a step.

With key free agents such as Shelby Harris and Justin Simmons, Denver could elect to send Miller to Cleveland. Thus, freeing up cap space in order to bring back key free agents as well as giving them room to go sign other impact players.

A third round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft might be an offer that Denver can’t pass up as Miller could very well be outright released this off-season.

Does This Trade Work for the Cleveland Browns?

After falling short in the Divisional round against the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs, the Browns understand that they are a few pieces away from a Championship. The Buccaneers put out the blueprint on how to beat the Chiefs; Keep everything in front of you and put heat on Patrick Mahomes.

What better way to do that than adding one of the best pass rushers in NFL history. Miller would probably have to restructure his contract a bit but the one two punch of Miller and Myles Garrett would wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks.

Though Miller has arguably lost a step, in Cleveland, Myles Garrett would demand the double teams. This would allow Miller to get the one on one matchups that he has never seen in his career. This could be a match made in heaven.

A third round pick might seem like a lot of compensation for the aging and expensive Miller but these are Cleveland’s last 4 third round picks:

2020: Jordan Elliot- 15 tackles, 0 sacks, 1 start. Jacob Phillips- 9 games, 3 starts, 25 tackles.

2019: Sione Takitaki- 13 starts in 2 years, 88 tackles, 1 sack.

2018: Chad Thomas- 8 starts in 2 years, 4 sacks, cut in 2020.

It’s easy to see that anyone is going to take Miller over any of those four. One could argue you that you’d take Miller over all of those four.

If Cleveland wants to topple the Chiefs, this trade would be a great start.

Deal or No Deal?

This trade would be nice for both teams. While a third round pick and 22 million dollars might seem a little rich for the Browns, the chance of adding Miller is too great.

Denver would say goodbye to their Super Bowl MVP but would add a key draft pick as they usher in their new era under new GM George Patton.
