This Eagles-Saints Trade Would Send Alvin Kamara To Philadelphia

As the calendar turns over to November, the Philadelphia Eagles remain the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL. They have done a great job on both sides of the ball as they have a top-five-rated offense and defense. Could a trade with the New Orleans Saints for superstar running back Alvin Kamara be on the horizon to make them even more dangerous?

Philadelphia has done excellently thus far this season winning their first seven games, but they also do not want to get complacent. Knowing there are other great teams in the league, they will look to bolster their roster in any way that they can ahead of the trade deadline.

They already made one big move, acquiring pass rusher Robert Quinn from the Chicago Bears last week. But, there is a good chance that they are not done making deals. The Eagles could be in the market still for a running back.

According to sources, the Eagles were one of the teams that checked in with the Carolina Panthers about Christian McCaffrey’s availability before he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. That wasn’t the end of their running back pursuits, as they have also been linked to Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints.

The Eagles have a strong group of running backs already in place with Miles Sanders as the starter with Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott and Trey Sermon behind him. However, Kamara would be a huge upgrade for the offense with his dual-threat ability.

He is as dangerous with the ball in his hands as a ball carrier as he is catching the ball out of the backfield or split out wide as a wide receiver. Adding that to what is already a dangerous offense would give the Eagles arguably one of the best group of skill position players in the NFL.

What could a trade for Kamara look like? Philadelphia could try and acquire him for multiple mid and late-round picks, a similar package to what McCaffrey went for. The Panthers acquired a second, third and fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and a fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft.

McCaffrey is likely a tier or two above Kamara, but he should still fetch the Saints a nice price. New Orleans would certainly ask for their first-round pick back from the Eagles that they traded to them during the 2022 NFL Draft.

Kamara is a great player and could be worth that first-round pick if the Saints play hardball. Philadelphia can also offer back the Saints’ 2024 second-round pick in a deal and they have an extra early Day 3 pick from the Minnesota Vikings in the 2024 draft as well.

Philadelphia should offer those selections with a Day 2 pick in 2023 and see if that would be enough for the Saints to bite. McCaffrey landed the Panthers two Day 2 selections, so it would be hard to imagine the Saints getting more for Kamara.
