The Los Angeles Rams are a team that everyone is keeping an eye on with just a few hours remaining until the NFL trade deadline. They are 3-4 on the season, but with how weak the NFC is overall, they still have a good chance of making a playoff push despite how poorly things have gone thus far. Could they look to swing big on a trade for Alvin Kamara with the New Orleans Saints?

The Rams have struggled to find any consistency on either side of the ball. Their star-studded defense has not been as dominant as it was last season, which is partly due to the ineffectiveness of the team’s offense.

Los Angeles has had explosive units under Sean McVay, but this season, they have been anything but that. The offensive line has struggled mightily, which has caused a trickle-down effect on the rest of the unit.

Matthew Stafford is getting battered every week, already absorbing 24 sacks and numerous more hits. The only player he has any success throwing the ball to is Cooper Kupp as big free-agent signing Allen Robinson has been a bust.

The running game is non-existent as the Rams are second to last in rushing attempts, rushing yards and yards per rush. They have cycled through numerous options in the backfield as Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson, Malcolm Brown and Ronnie Rivers have all received shots.

The front office has looked to make some upgrades as they were in on Christian McCaffrey before he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. They have shown they are not afraid of making a splash, as they did last season with Von Miller and trading away draft picks like Oprah gives away presents at the holidays.

There are reports that the Rams offered two first-round picks to the Panthers in exchange for Brian Burns, but were turned down. If they are willing to make a push for an impact player, one they could make a run at is Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints.

Kamara would be a massive upgrade for the Rams’ backfield, offering a similar impact to what McCaffrey would bring to the table as a dual-threat out of the backfield. The asking price for him is not cheap, but that has never caused Los Angeles to shy away from a deal.

If the Rams are willing to offer a first-round pick and Cam Akers to the Saints, a deal could very well get done between the two sides. That is what they reportedly asked the Philadelphia Eagles for, as the Eagles own the Saints’ first-rounder in 2023. Los Angeles should be aggressive and make that deal as well as Kamara is talented enough to help turn things around for the defending Super Bowl champs on offense.
