San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has gotten off to a tremendous start in the early stages of his NFL career, winning his first 10 regular-season starts and posting MVP-caliber numbers as soon as his second year in the league.

Legendary signal-caller Tom Brady would know a thing or two about great quarterbacks, and he likes what he is seeing from Purdy thus far.

But when Brady was asked to describe Purdy in one words, he responded with “humble.”

“You don’t hear of guys like Brock Purdy until Brock Purdy’s doing amazing things out on the field, so it’s kind of a fun story and I hope it continues for him because he seems like he’s a really humble young man, and he wants to go out there and do great things,” Tom Brady said on the Let’s Go Podcast. “I think the more you have that chip on your shoulder like he does, and there were not quite the expectations, it’s nice to go out there and continue to prove people wrong.”

Purdy has thrown for 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns without an interception through the first five games of 2023. He is also completing 72.1 percent of his passes while posting a league-best passer rating of 123.1.

Most importantly, the 23-year-old has led the 49ers to a 5-0 record.

Purdy was selected by San Francisco with the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and was pressed into starting duty last year following injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance.

The Iowa State product responded by going 5-0 in his five regular-season starts and then leading the Niners all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

Some still feel that Purdy is a product of Kyle Shanahan’s system, but it’s getting harder and harder to deny the results we are seeing.

Brock Purdy and the 49ers will look to continue their winning ways when they take on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
