The Detroit Lions are one team that some people will be keeping an eye on as the NFL trade deadline quickly approaches on November 2nd. They are currently sitting at 0-7, so they could start selling off some pieces to add some future assets to the mix. One player to keep an eye on could be Trey Flowers and the Kansas City Chiefs are an intriguing potential landing spot.

Detroit is in the first year of the Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell era. They took over as general manager and head coach and are laying the groundwork for what they want the team to look like in the future. Building a team like the Chiefs isn’t easy, but the Lions appear to be on the right track slowly.

Everyone knew that wins were going to be difficult to come by this season. The Lions were lacking playmakers offensively at the wide receiver position and were thin at some spots defensively. The offensive line, where the team has begun the rebuild, has been ravaged by injuries.

Despite that, the Lions have been competitive in a majority of their games. They have suffered two losses this season on field goals as time expired in the game. A 13-3 lead was even had on the Los Angeles Rams this most recent week, but they ultimately lost 28-19.

Moral victories don’t help much in the NFL, but the Lions play hard every week. But, their record is what it is and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they made some moves at the deadline. Could trading Trey Flowers be part of their plan?

Flowers was signed away from the New England Patriots in 2019 as an emerging pass rusher. He has failed to live up to the expectations of his big contract, but he could still garner some attention on the trade market. A team such as the Kansas City Chiefs is someone to keep an eye on according to CBS Sports.

The Chiefs’ defense has been abysmal this season. They cannot stop a cold as they surrender points and yardage at an alarming pace. Kansas City cannot consistently pressure the quarterback and Flower would help them do that.

The team focused so much on revamping the offensive line to help the offense, the defense didn’t get the attention it needed. With a record of 3-4, the Chiefs will have to find a way to turn things around before they are too far behind in the standings to make a run. Flowers could be a good piece to help get things heading in the right direction.
