USC Coach Reveals Major Admission About Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams, USC, NFL Draft
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Caleb Williams, the standout quarterback from USC, is making the leap to the NFL as the highly touted projected No. 1 overall pick.

Despite his impressive credentials and skill set, his former college head coach, Lincoln Riley, has highlighted the inevitability of an adjustment period for the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner as he transitions to the next level. Riley shared these insights during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Monday.

“I think his game will have to adapt because people, and we even saw even this year, people are going to try to defend him differently. And you guys know, everybody’s gonna try to get the book on what works against you and they’re gonna continue to try different things and so as a quarterback you’ve got to learn to find different ways to win, different ways to move the football and be productive.”

What sets Caleb Williams apart is his unwavering focus on winning, making it his top priority as he embarks on his NFL journey. According to Riley, whichever team selects Williams will undoubtedly be pleased with their choice, given his dedication and abilities to win.

Caleb Williams’ college career, which began in 2021 at Oklahoma, has been nothing short of remarkable. Over the course of three seasons, he amassed an impressive record, throwing for an astounding 10,082 yards, along with 93 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions.

As it currently stands, the Chicago Bears hold the coveted No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. However, the possibility remains that they might choose to trade the selection if a team presents a substantial offer to move up in the draft order.

This decision could significantly shape the fate of Caleb Williams as he takes the next step in his football career. He will be missed at USC.
