12+ yards after the catch per reception
Once again, besides improving his rushing numbers each and every year, he’s also improved in the receiving department. After combining for 51 receptions for 395 yards in his first two seasons, Cook caught a career-best 53 passes for 519 yards in 2019.
On top of that, in the past two seasons, Cook has been one of the best running backs at creating yards after the catch. In 2018, Cook accounted for 373 yards after the catch, averaging 9.3 yards after the catch per reception (sixth-most in the NFL). Then, last season, Cook led the league with an impressive 11.2 yards after the catch per reception.
If Cook could have limited his drops in 2019 — he had seven of them — he would’ve had even more yards after the catch. Also, with Stefon Diggs being traded, Cook could see more targets in the offense, alongside Adam Thielen, rookie Justin Jefferson, Kyle Rudolph, and Irv Smith Jr.
Taking all of that into consideration, Cook could lead the league again in yards after the catch per reception, averaging 12+ yards for the Vikings in 2020.
