Vikings: 3 numbers for Dalvin Cook to target in 2020

Dalvin Cook had a breakout season in 2019, with 1,135 rushing yards (10th in the league) and 13 touchdowns (fourth in the league) while adding 53 catches for another 519 yards. Gary Kubiak’s influence on the Vikings’ offense brought a shift to the running game, and Cook was the centerpiece.

With Kevin Stefanski’s departure to become the Cleveland Browns’ head coach, Kubiak was elevated to offensive coordinator. So the formula that worked, which also maximized the effectiveness of quarterback Kirk Cousins, will remain this year.

Cook is also in line for a new contract. The Vikings are painted into a corner in terms of giving him a deal just below Christian McCaffrey’s, so an agreement is inevitable.

That said, Cook has a bit more proving to do to be considered a top-tier NFL running back without question.

With that in mind, here are three numbers Cook should be targeting in 2020.
