Vikings Showing Interest In Free Agent WR Odell Beckham Jr?

The Minnesota Vikings suffered a major blow heading into the 2022 NFL season when their No. 3 wide receiver, Bisi Johnson, went down with a season-ending injury. While they are comfortable with Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen leading the way as the top two options, Kirk Cousins could use more help. Could Odell Beckham Jr. end up becoming the piece that the Vikings add to round out the offense?

Beckham’s market has been quiet over the last few weeks. He will miss at least the first half of the season due to a torn ACL that he suffered with the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs.

Paul Hampton, a reporter from The MSP Chronicle, has reported that the Vikings have had discussions with Beckham.

Granted, no one should jump to conclusions that this report has any kind of validity. Hampton is not a known or verified reporter. However, the rumblings would make a lot of sense for both the Vikings and Beckham.

One issue with this scenario could be that Beckham would likely prefer to sign with a Super Bowl contender. Not being able to play until the second half of the season will make things difficult to get up to speed quickly. On a team bound for a deep playoff run, Beckham would have more time to return to full speed to make a bigger impact.

Outside of the Vikings, there have been plenty of teams connected to Beckham. Among those teams are the Rams, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, and even the New England Patriots. He will have no shortage of options to choose from.

That makes a signing with the Vikings seem relatively unlikely. But, anything could happen and this is something to at least monitor moving forward.

Expect to hear more news about Odell Beckham Jr. at some point in the near future. He doesn’t have to rush to make a decision, but some teams could look to lock him in before the start of the regular season or at least shortly after the year begins.
