The Minnesota Vikings are set to open up the 2020 NFL season against the Green Bay Packers this week. Following an offseason full of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that sentence is music to the ears of fans in Minnesota. Kirk Cousins and company could not be more ready to get things started.
It has been a busy offseason in Minnesota. The Vikings moved on from star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who was traded to the Buffalo Bills. They also made a late offseason trade to acquire star pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Despite all of the moves, Cousins and the Vikings have big goals of winning the NFC North and making a Super Bowl run. They finished the 2019 season with a 10-6 record, which placed them in second in the division behind the Green Bay Packers. That just so happens to be who they play in Week 1.
While this is a Week 1 game, it could have major implications later on in the season. Both the Packers and Vikings are projected to be contenders in the NFC. They are also expected to be the top two teams in the NFC North divisional race.
All of that being said, let’s take a look at what fans should be expecting from Kirk Cousins this week as the Vikings take on the Packers.
