There is not much to look forward to in Washington except for player development. Dwayne Haskins has officially been named the starting quarterback by Ron Rivera, as expected, and he will look to prove his doubters wrong.
Washington is a young offense that got even younger with the release of Adrian Peterson ahead of Week 1. They feature Terry McLaurin and Steven Sims at wide receiver as second-year players. Rookies Antonio Gibson and Antonio Gandy-Golden will also be used a lot.
These are players at skill positions with high ceilings but need to put it all together. Rivera will have his work cut out for him on the offensive end but Jack Del Rio should flourish on defense.
Chase Young is the newest addition to Washington’s defensive line. He joins Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, Montez Sweat, and Matt Ioannidis. There is no shortage of weapons on defense for Washington. This also includes Landon Collins in the secondary. It will be interesting too see what style Del Rio plays and how aggressive he has this defense at the start of the season.
Washington is a team looking to the future and it all begins with Haskins under center. If he improves, the team will improve. Here are four bold predictions for the Washington Football Team heading into the 2020 season.
