Washington Football Team projected to sign WR Corey Davis in free agency

The Washington Football Team has taken a step forward this season under new head coach Ron Rivera. While they do not have a clear-cut quarterback of the future, they are heading down the right path. Adding another wide receiver would be a wise move and Corey Davis could end up being a target.

Davis has turned things around this season with the Tennessee Titans. The former No. 5 overall pick had not lived up to the hype through the first three years of his career. However, that has changed a bit in 2020.

So far this season in 12 games, Davis has racked up 60 receptions for 945 yards and five touchdowns. He has produced well and has earned some money. This coming offseason, Davis will hit free agency and will have quite a few potential suitors with interest.

One of those teams could be Washington, who will be looking for a No. 2 wide receiver to play alongside Terry McLaurin. No matter who ends up playing quarterback for Washington, they would have a dynamic duo to throw to.

Pro Football Focus took a look at Davis’ upcoming free agency and they have projected that he will end up signing with the Washington Football Team on a contract worth $65 million over four years.

Standing in at 6-foot-3 and nearly 210 pounds, Davis is a big receiver who would fit nicely alongside McLaurin. He may not be a No. 1 caliber wideout, but Washington wouldn’t need him to be.

At just 25 years old, Davis is just now entering his prime. Quite a few teams would love to sign him. Washington has a big role available and that could interest Davis.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Washington Football Team. Dwayne Haskins doesn’t appear to be a long-term option at quarterback for the franchise. But, they do have some weapons offensively, including McLaurin and running back Antonio Gibson.

Assuming they continue being smart with their moves and building the right way, Washington could be a playoff contender in the next couple of years.

Expect to hear them show interest in quite a few receivers this offseason. Corey Davis might very well be the best option for them and they should absolutely pursue him.
