Washington Redskins: 3 Bold Predictions for Alex Smith in 2018

Alex Smith is heading into the 2018 NFL season excited to play for a team that 100 percent believe in him. The Washington Redskins made a major decision this offseason to move on from talented quarterback Kirk Cousins to acquire Smith in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Making the move shows that not only do the Redskins believe in Alex Smith’s talent, they also think he will be the leader that the franchise needs. Cousins brought a lot of talent to the field, but he was not able to lead the team to consistent contention. Smith had one of the best, if not the best, seasons of his career last year in Kansas City.

During the 2017 season with the Chiefs, Smith completed 67.5 percent of his pass attempts for 4,042 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. That touchdown-to-interception ratio is exceptional, to say the least.

Smith was also one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL on the ground. He racked up 355 yards and a touchdown with his legs. His ability to scramble and create plays without having to use his arm created plays that would not have been there otherwise.

Washington has a lot of talent on their roster and should be able to compete in the NFC East. In order to do so, however, Smith will need to have a big year.

All of that being said, what three bold predictions can be made for Smith heading into the 2018 NFL season?
