Keep Adrian Peterson Involved

Last week was so effortless for Washington on offense. A big reason for that was Peterson. The future Hall of Famer was sensational in his first game for the Redskins. He had some big runs, was involved in the passing game and never went down easily. If the Redskins expect to dominate on offense again this week, they must keep Peterson involved in the offense.

Indianapolis has a susceptible defense. The Colts are playing a new style of defense this year under new coordinator Matt Eberflus. Last week, the Colts allowed just under 100 yards rushing, however, Cincinnati averaged over five yards per rush. If the Redskins average over five yards per rush, things could get ugly for the Colts.

If the Redskins can get their running game going, it opens up everything for head coach Jay Gruden. Under Gruden, you will see everyone involved in the offense from the backs, the tight ends to the receivers. But for the offense to operate at its highest level, Washington needs another strong game from Peterson.

If Peterson starts out slowly, the Redskins must stick with him. He’s always been the type of runner who needs volume. So if Peterson struggles in the first quarter, Gruden must find ways to still keep him involved to keep Smith from throwing over 40 times.
