Washington Redskins: 4 Reasons They Will Make the Playoffs in 2018

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Alex Smith Will Prove His Worth

After spending two and a half years wondering if Kirk Cousins was the long-term solution at quarterback, the franchise traded away cornerback Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third round pick for Chiefs starter Alex Smith.

Even though he is four years older than Cousins, Smith has proven to be a Pro Caliber quarterback in thirteen years in the league. In his five years at Arrowhead, Smith lead the Chiefs to four playoff appearances, made three Pro Bowls, and led Kansas City to their first playoff win in 22 seasons. Even last season, Smith had the best year of his whole career, eclipsing 4,000 yards for the first time, a career high in touchdowns (26), and passer rating (104.7).

Washington needs stability at quarterback and they found one in Smith who is only getting better in 2018.
